Was interviewed by Six Miles To Supper

Excited to share this video interview I did today with Kayla Cox from the inspiring channel “six miles to supper” it was fun sharing some of my thoughts on nutrition and fasting with Kayla who has burned off 80 pounds in a very healthy way – I forgot to mention even my cat is benefiting from special eating plan- low carb raw meat diet for cats – he’s mildly diabetic and I have been able to keep him off insulin and manage his blood sugar issues with food alone!

(I opted out of insulin for my cat because there’s a risk his sugar could get to low – then he’d be on a roller coaster ride of blood sugar up and down – he’s very happy and doing well on his raw frozen meat diet I get him
At the health food pet store. (They say diabetes is getting higher for cats and dogs- lots of carbs in some of their food sadly) and meat has almost no carbs- much more natural for dogs and cats)

fitshani admit this whole weight loss thing with fasting and eating more fat and less carbs is easy for me because i quit wheat and grains 6 years ago so going even lower on carbs was not that much of a change and i love healthy fats and was “chubby” but had good cardiovascular fitness and strong firm muscles from years of exercising. i was already pretty healthy and “fit” just had extra fat on my body due to eating foods and eating to often which helped my body store fat. “health” is not just whether someone is “fat” or “lean” it’s about muscle tone, blood sugar, insulin levels, so many different levels to “health”. i was already healthy i just now want to be leaner and maintain my muscle tone as i age and keep my hormones balanced. eating low carb, low sugar and high in healthy fat and medium amounts of protein is very good for your brain and skin and keeping your insulin levels low, resting from eating and not snacking between meals helps your hormones stay balanced- insulin is a hormone- it’s all connected to all the other hormones in your body. i am fascinated by nutrition and how to body works. i am my own science experiment. the biggest change i made is “resting” from eating. “fasting” is resting from digestion basically…and this allows your body to burn it’s own fat after it’s done burning the glycogen stored from eating food. fasting also gives your body time and space and energy to repair itself on a cellular level. eating 6 small meals a day keeps your insulin HIGH and you cannot burn fat or repair your body if it’s always have to digest food and burn calories or store them as fat. fasting is the healthiest thing i have done it feels like! i feel younger and happier fasting several hours then eating. i usually fast 16 to 18 hours a day. 8 of those hours is sleeping! so really i just skip one meal a day instead of having 3 meals a day and i have no snacks between meals and i put salt in my water and take electrolytes to keep my mineral balance because when you fast and eat low carb, higher fats your kidneys release more sodium/minerals so you need more. i exercise everyday usually walking or riding my bike….usually before i eat anything. it feels good to exercise on am empty stomach! i never thought i’d say that! i don’t count calories- i eat until full but only low carb, high fat, medium protein and only in my eating window time. #keto #fasting #nutrition #health #lchf

She has worked as a figure model in Seattle since 1992. She completed her BA degree in Arts and Literature from Antioch University in 2013. She sees her creative expression as a tool to connect with community and a way of increasing self awareness and tap into a deeper wisdom within. Artist Statement: I work with cameras, microphones, written words and paint improvisationally. I am very kinesthetic and use my whole body when I create. In my photography, I fall in love with shape, texture and light while out wandering. I like to capture what is naturally there but in a way that abstracts it and allows the viewer to notice something new and different about ordinary physical reality. I carefully compose all my photos spontaneously as I am shooting moving the camera angle until I see what looks like a balanced, dynamic composition. In my painting, I allow my hands to move intuitively on the canvas creating shapes and textures that feel right. I repeat patterns and choose colors from somewhere beyond my thinking mind. I am very inspired by the repeating patterns I see in nature. Plants and animals move me a great deal. In my spoken word and musical creations I listen to words as they pop into my head and go into trance like states- playfully spinning words out as they come to me in a musical way…. I am taping into my unconscious and go into a dream like state when I create art.

keeping your life affordable and good exercise too

got hired to model at a new to me art college and think i found a free place to park (and totally legal and safe) 20 minutes away walking wise- really try and avoid pay parking lots! of all places colleges should have cheap or free parking for students and staff/visitors if you ask me! $5 to $8 to park when i model is just silly so i’d rather go on a nice walk for the exercise and free parking when i have time! some places i model the parking is free and one is only $1.00 which i happily pay. free is the best though. im a tight wad!

better exercise too 🙂 i refuse to spend money unless i have to so i can stay financially safe.i ride my bike to some model gigs if the parking is a rip off and/or traffic is jammed with cars. bicycle is sometimes faster than driving!

i appreciate my body’s ability to store fat for safety- just trying to teach my body it can burn this extra fat off and i am safe/don’t need this extra fat for survival etc. the way to burn off excess body fat is to eat in a way that lowers your insulin levels (which also improves your blood sugar levels) – the more carbs and sugars you eat the more insulin your body needs to secrete to digest the food and higher the healthy fats you eat the less insulin your body needs to secrete= hardly any when you eat fat… (and fasting 16 hours a day also gives your pancreas a rest from having to secrete insulin and gives your body time to repair itself etc.) protein needs to be medium to keep insulin lower….so high healthy fat, medium protein and way low on the carbs is the healthiest way to eat…i’ve been fasting 16:8 every day since july 5th 2018 and eating low carb, high healthy fat along with that…and am feeling good. been exercising my whole life so have pretty good health over all just a little chubby basically! have pretty good muscle tone….feels good getting leaner.

i don’t eat grains or processed fake foods (no wheat, oats, rice and my carbs come from veggies and some fruits)

i eat whole natural food with all the natural fat left in.

it’s pretty easy at this point! eating more fat has totally changed my appetite- i fill up and am losing weight!  and feel mentally good and stable- and i quit wheat 6 years ago so the low carb feels pretty easy going even lower

Eating healthy is political activism empowering me!

Activism to me! I’m rebelling against corporations who mass produce foods that harm people- highly addictive foods. I’m also rebelling against a mainstream medical system that is in the dark ages with nutrition and giving people advice that does not get them healthier most of the time and makes people dependent on medications that sometimes harm – with proper nutrition meds can be reduced, eliminated or at least made more effective when someone’s immune system and hormones are balanced thanks to healthy eating- I feel

Liberated from being addicted to sugar and processed carbs 🙂 plus there’s tons of food that’s healthy and tastes amazing and companies And farms I do want to support that i believe in. $£€ etc. this goes for mental health too! The way I’m eating is totally helping my depression and anxiety lessen a great deal!!!!

 

im fasting 16:8 daily and then eating mostly low carb, high healthy fat, medium protein.  i am grain free and get my carbs from veggies only and a tiny bit of fruit as a treat.  i feel great and am burning off body fat.  my moods are stable and i feel happier and healthier than ever on a #lchf way of eating with intermittent fasting.
